Great Masurian Lakes will be touristic and sailing attraction at highest european level. There will be created new ports and sailors will be able to sail on new lakes.

- There is an idea to create a water loop with a river branch to Ełk, said the Ełk starost Krzysztof Piłat. The starost is an enthusiast of building of canals which had been started by German in XIX century. Now, sailors thanks to those investments can sail from Ruciany-Nida to the south to Węgorzewo through the northern trial of Great Masurian Lakes.

It's easier and less expensive to dig another canal which would create a new sailing trial to the summer capital of Poland - Giżycko. It's enough to dig a 1,8 kilometer long passage between the two lakes. The new trial would be used by less experienced sailors for whom the rough Śniadrwy lake is too dangerous. In this way one could bypass crowded in touristic season - Mikołajki.
