On the 1st of September teachers go on strike
On the 1st of September instead of quiet beginning of the academic year, the Polish Teachers' Union has announced that in Warsaw is going to take place a teachers' manifestation.
The decision has been made by the presidium of ZNP (Polish Teachers' Union) after acquainting themselves with government's standpoint during the meeting with Michał Bonin and vice-minister of education Krystyna Szumilas.
According to the chairman of ZNP Sławomir Broniarz changes proposed by government are dangerous for Polish educational system. It's not only about legal matters, but also what is happening in the educational system within the frames of decentralization.
"In our opinion dangerous is marginalizing the position of school superintendent, passing excessive competance to the local governments, which, as they inform, are not ready for such tasks", said the chairman of the Union.
