Last Farewell to Edward Kłosiński
Edward Kłosiński (65) was one of Polish most prominent camera operators in the film industry. He had worked for the best giving Polish cinema some of better shots in its history. He had worked with Andrzej Wajda, Janusz Zaorski, Krzysztof Kieślowski, and Lars von Trier.
The directors who had worked with Kłosiński remember him as imaginative and creative. He could come up with lines or even whole scenes for the movie being shot, which is not required of directors of photography. He is known for saying that when the movie is good, also the photograpy is good, but when the movie is bad - good photography is only a nuisance, as the viewers will supsect that its makers concentrated on photography negelecting the message.
His favorite camera people were Sven Nykvist and Gordon Willis.
He was awarded Officer's Cross of Poland Resurrection Order by President Kaczyński on the 6th January 2008, a day after his death.
His funeral was attended by the cream of the top of Polish actors, including Daniel Olbrychski, Janusz Gajos, and of course Krystyna Janda, the widow.
