On a wheelchair in mountains
There is an idea to make accessible for the handicapped the trails in the lower parts of Tatra mountains.
"We want together with the Tatra National Park apply for the Union's help concerning the accessibility of Tatra trials for people on a wheelchair", said Janusz Majcher, the mayor of Zakopane.
The idea was born in the young inhabitant of Zakopane moving on a wheelchair- Jakub Sikorski, who gathered information on how this problems are solved in different mountains in Poland and Europe and got down to work over the project.
"At the beginning we want to apply and make accessible for the handicapped the Tatra valleys, of course, only those that can be converted", said the mayor of Zakopane.
"Here comes to my mind the Koscieliska and Chocholowska valleys". The trials on the bottom of the valleys are wide and a path for the wheelchair could be built there without any problems.
