Radwańska In Domachowska out
Both our players, Marta Domoachowska and Agnieszka Radwańska, did their best in their games of last 16 in Australian Open, with different results. Domachowska lost, Radwańska won.
We did not have very high hopes for Domachowska's game as she was matched against the powerful American Venus Williams. We rooted for her with all our hearts and she held her own not giving in easily, but Marta lost to Venus in two not-easy sets 4-6, 4-6.
Agnieszka Radwańska gave her supporters a near heart attack. After her win over world's number two Kuznetsova, to us, she was a dead cert in her game against Nadia Petrova (ranked 14). However she lost the first set 1-6. And even though there were some hard-fought-for points, that was when our hopes sank.
But Agnieszka is made of some hard grit and the youngster (born in 1989) is not one to give up. She made a battaliant come back in the second set and after a tough competition won it 7-5. Petrova must have lost heart as Radwańska crushed her in the third 6-0.
In the quarter-final Agnieszka is matched against Daniela Hantuchova (25), ranked 9. Hantuchova is also right-handed and plays two-hand backhand like Radwańska. She is a tough opponent due to her versality and strong forehand. She has won three titles so far and got to the last 8 in Wimbledon and Australian Open last year.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for Agnieszka. She ahs all it takes to win also in this game.
