Poland, the largest producer of coal in the European Union, this year, in four months time, imported more than 3 million tonnes of coal – it follows from the data of Industrial Development Agency (ARP), which monitors mining on the order of the Ministry of Economy. In comparison, in the same period of 2007 import amounted to 1.9 million tonnes.
Coal industry apparently did not execute this year’s assumed mining, because it decreased by nearly 7 million tonnes. Most coal energy comes to Poland from Russia and Ukraine, and coke coal from the Czech Republic and United States.
