Opening of the Olympic Qualification

Volleyball tournament qualifying to the Olympics in Beijinbegan yesterday in German Halle. In women's opening game the Turkish team lost to Germany 3:0.

Yesterday, thePolish women volleyball team also kicked the tournament off in style. In the first game of Halle Tournament they defeated the dangerous Danish team 3:1. It is our women volleyball players' first small step on our way to Beijin.

Our group, besides the Dutch, holds the host of the tournament the German team as well as the Turks. The participants of the A-group are: Russia, Serbia, Romania and Croatia. Certainly the favorite in the latter group are the Russian team. "I will not place a bet on the Serbian team because they have not arrived in their strongest lineup. Anja Spasojević and Ivana Djersilo are absent, and without them the team is weakened" - Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata, two-time Europe champion, stated.
Today at 5:30 p.m. Polish women's volleyball team, led by coach Bonnito will begin their second game in a qualification tournament. The German team, the host of the tournament in Halle, will be our rival.
"It is not going to be easy because team from Germany in front of their own audience will perform the best they can and they will do everything to win. Yet they have finished previous game in three short sets" - Małgorzata Glinka warned.
