Mead under European Union protection

On Monday European Commission listed on Guaranteed Traditional Specialities four Old Polish products. These are old meads Czworniak, Dwojniak, Poltorak and Trojniak.

On the EU list of protected traditional products are already, among other things, oscypek, bryndza, or heath honey. Meads are unique natural products, obtained without the use of preservatives, stabilizers, artificial colourings and flavourings.

Listing Old Polish mead on EU list will enable these products to promote them as traditional products and thus will allow higher prices for these products.
