Scouts from around the world rally
2.5 thousand scouts will take up residence in the scouts’ town in Chorzow on 1th of August. Scouts from 29 countries - mostly Poland, Hungary, Czech and Slovakia will arrive on organized in Chorzow IXth Middle-European Scouts Rally. The event called "Silesia 2008" will last 10 days.
The programme of the rally is diversified – scouts will be able to familiarize with the culture of the region; they will visit a historic mines in Tarnowskie Gory and Zabrze, the Palace in Pszczyna, they will be also traveling among rocks in Krakow-Czestochowa Jura.
Scouts will also learn about dying professions such as pottery, basketry, herbalism and saddlery. There are classes concerning ecology, Czech painting technique (batik) and the Hungarian dances. Rally will end with international fair on Wolnosci Street in Chorzow - the main promenade in the city - during which participants will present their countries and jointly will dance trojok - a traditional Silesian dance.
