Smuggling seahorse tablets

Customs officers from Gdansk detained a container from Indonesia with 20 million tablets containing an extract from a seahorse - fish species deemed as almost extinct. Preparation, which value estimated by the customs officers to around 6 million zlotys (1.8 million euro) was ordered by Polish company.

- The medicine may not be imported into our country, because the animal from which the extract is prepared is protected by the Washington Convention - said Marcin Daczko from the team press of the Board of Customs in Gdynia.

They notified this to the Prosecutor's Office. – For the attempt of smuggling to Poland products prepared from animals or plants placed in the Washington Convention list one can be sentenced to five years imprisonment.
