Every third Pole thinks that he suffers mentally
Every third Pole declares that he needs help. Even 72% people think that life conditions in Poland are harmful for psyche - such conclusions may be drawn from the latest report by CBOS (Center for Public Opinion Research) concerning mental health of Poles.
Nevertheless we have to wait for an appointment with a psychiatrist for months. The problem was noticed by the deputies who dealt with the amendment to a bill about mental helath protection, which would make accessible for Poles to benefit form professional help of specialists.
According to a project, already accepted by the health commission in Sejm, there will be created a National Programme for Mental Health Protection.
From the researches made by CBOS it results that more or less 4% Poles benefit from help of psychiatric hospitals or medical centers, yet several times more have never met a specialist. Usually people from the upper-class are afroid of mental illnesses: management, intellectual workers, more often man than woman. Even 75% Poles declare that the biggest threat is unemployment, family crisis and uncertain future.
