Warminska Inn in Gietrzwald (Karczma Warminska)
One can find "Warminska Inn" in Gietrzwald village on the route Olsztyn-Gietrzwałd-Omarama. It is a restaurant and at the same time it is some sort of heritage park. On a large courtyard we can see historical items which were used in rural areas, so we can find here an oven in which bread was made, a smokehouse, in which meat was smoked as well as old historic horse-drawn wagons.
In the centre of an Inn, we have carefully restored interior stylized so it looks like from the past years, straw thatched roof, wooden tables and also other things made of wood. Everything have Warmian character, some may recall cepelnia. But for tourists this place certainly has a unique climate and charm of the past.
The Inn is open during the whole year, on a covered courtyard events including well-known in the regjonie "Warmian Feast" are organized. We can then participate in games with a folklore team, a presentation of music and folk costumes is also held.
And now the most important thing in any restaurant or kitchen. As the name indicated, we are dealing with foods from Warmia and Mazury region, and so we get a little fat, but tasty meals. They serve there more than 70 dishes, pierogi (boiled dough pockets filled with meat, cheese or fruit) and dzyndzalki, czernina (soup of pig’s blood), zaklepka, cabbage soup, meals made of pork and beef meats, fish and game. Cook knows his job, meals are really tasty and everything is served on wooden trays, bowls, platters, by the personnel spruced up in the former Warmian attire.
