Bronislaw Geremek’s funeral

Yesterday, the mass in the intent of Bronislaw Geremek in St. John Cathedral in Warsaw's Old Town was held. Professor was buried at the Powazki Cemetery.

Celebrations have gathered almost all important after 1989 figures of Polish political life. On the cathedral benches gathered all presidents of free Poland and almost all prime ministers. Also head of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Poettering came to the Bronislaw Geremek’s funeral. Almost all ministers and professor’s friends from the opposition came.

Former President Lech Walesa, former Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki and friends Janusz Onyszkiewicz and professor Henry Samsonowicz gave a speach in the cathedral. - Mr Bronek, you were one of the greatest Poles - said Lech Wałęsa.
