Biggest acoustic instrument will play on Krakow market
Huge carillon will resound on Sunday at Krakow's Market Square, a concert of one of the largest acoustic instruments in the world will take place within the confines of Tour de Carillon Festival.
Tour de Carillon Festival is a travelling festival. The first edition of the festival was held in 2007 in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie province.
During the Tour de Carillon Festival 2008 one will have a unique opportunity to admire carillon, playing solo, as well as accompanied by singers and sounds of other instruments. This year one can found in a program, among others, old and contemporary pieces, folk and film music.
Carillon is a musical instrument from the group of struck idiophones (sometimes called concussion idiophones). This is a group of bells, on which one can beat melodies with hammers or with bells hearts activated manually, or using the keyboard. The natural place for carillon concerts is street.
