Zakopane Tourist House may finish its existance. PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society - Polskie Towarzystwo Turystyczno-Krajoznawcze), the owner, reached an agreement with English investors who wants to rebuild the shelter into four or five-star hotel.

Teresa Tchorzelska, the head of the Tourist House confirms that the modernization is planned, but he does not know the exact plans of the foreign investors.

Architects from Zakopane - including John Karpiel Bulecka - predict that they do not allow to destroy one of the most beautiful buildings in the Tatra Mountains. The mayor of Zakopane has already announced that he would only agree to refurbish the interior of the Tourist House.

The facility was build in the fifties last century and it is not included on the list of historic monuments.
