Polish football champion tied with Liverpool
The best Polish football team, Wisla Cracow players tied with Liverpool 1:1 in the exhibition game, played in Fryburg in Switzerland.
The coach of Wisla Cracow Maciej Skorża appointed to the match the strongest team whereas in "The Reds" the leading players were absent - four representatives from Spain did not play because they were getting rest after the struggle in Euro 2008. Also the captain of Liverpool - Steven Gerard was missing.
The players from Wisla Cracow dominated on the field from the very beginning, however it was their rival who opened the match. In the sixth minute Andrij Woronin kicked from the closest distance. Mariusz Pawelek managed to defend that shot, nevertheless the immediate second shot of the representative of Ukraine finished him off.
The lost goal did not dampen the spirit of Wisla Cracow and in a moment Tomasz Jirsak, after a constructive action by Baszczynski, with a precise shot managed to score a goal to "The Reds".
