Weak U.S. dollar and Polish integration with the EU changed Polonia life in Chicago and New York. In Polish districts on Greenpoint or Ridgewood (New York), Passaic (New Jersey), Belmont and "Jackowo" (Chicago) more and more Polish businesses had to be closed. The demand for Polish goods decreased not only because of declining immigration. Weak U.S. dollar means that they are too expensive for the average Polish American. Also people who import goods from Poland are in very bad situation.

There is increasingly less people who are coming from Poland to U.S. One cannot put aside much more in the United States than in Poland. Additionally, here you often need to work illegally while in many EU countries you can be hired legally.

However, along with the weakening of dollar, Poles in the United States began to send goods to the country because they cost much less in the U.S. Therefore, there is a a steady flow of electronics (preferably iPods and iPhones), motorcycles, quads, bikes and cars to our country. All those goods, even after entrance duty, VAT and excise duty payment can cost much less. Boom in the business is so big that you need to wait even few weeks for a free container to Poland.
