Sms from foreign countries 70% cheaper

Next year the SMS roaming price may drop even by 70 percent. Viviane Reding, responsible in European Commission for telecommunication, presented a proposal of regulations, which will contribute to such reductions - announced the Reuters agency.

Viviane Reding published plans of widening a regulation introduced last year, which standardized and reduced roaming rates in Europe.

Viviane Reding did not suggest a specific reductions. Currently, the average price for sending roaming SMS messages from one EU country to another is 29 cents. European regulators claim that it could amount from 11 to 15 cents. Such price would allow operators to cover the costs of services and guarantee a reasonable level of profit.
