Around 5 p.m. yesterday binary asteroid 2008 BT18 passed our planet. There was no danger. 2008 BT18 passed Earth at a safe distance of 2.24 million kilometers.
Asteroid 2008 BT18 was speeding along with the speed of 45 thousand km/h. Approximately around 5 p.m. the asteroid was closest to the Earth. But there was no fear that it will strike our planet because the distance between the asteroid and the Earth was 2.24 million kilometers, or 0015 astronomical units. This is six-time distance between the Earth and the moon. The diameter of a larger piece of an asteroid pair was 600 meters, and smaller one at least 200 meters.
