The professor Bronislaw Geremek, the former leader of Freedom Union and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has died. He died in the accident around Nowy Tomysl (wielkopolskie voivodship). His Mercedes crossed into the opposite lane and run into Fiat Ducato. The other passengers are in the hospital. Bronislaw Geremek was 76 years old.

Bronislaw Geremek died instantly. Accompanying him woman was taken to hospital. She is conscious and will be questioned in form of the witness. The accident survived also people driving in Fiat.

Bronisław Geremek was a head of the department of state of foreign affairs in 1997 -2000.

It was him who in 1998 signed on behalf of our country an act of our accession to NATO. He was also a deputy in the Parliament X, Ist,IInd,IIIrd term of office. Since 2002 he was a deputy in the European Parliament. In the Euro-Parliament he was a member of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

He was a wodower, he bereaved two boys.
