Two women attacked with a sword

The police in Lodz aressted a 44 years old man who in the center of Lodz attacked two women with a sword. The man, sitting behind the wheel of Volkswagen Golf, noticed the two woman on the sidewalk and he assaulted them with the 75-centimeter hilt of the sword. He robbed 310 Zloty (97 Euro), got into the car and drove away.

The women informed the police about the incident who after several minutes sighted the car and crossed its way.
The man tried to escape. He headed for the police car and crashed its right side. Then he made an attempt to run away on the sidewalk but the police officers crossed his way and overpowered him, said the spokesman of the police in Lodz subinspector Miroslaw Micor.

The arrested man, an unemployed inhabitant of Lodz, was drunk - he had 0,8 promille of alcohol. In the car the police officer found the sword which was used during the attack.

The man will answer for the robbery with the use of dangerous weapon, assault and battery on the police officer, driving a car under the influence of alcohol and causing of a collision. He is threatened with 12 years of imprisonment.
