There won't be any coin with Walesa's image
The Polish National Bank said that it does not mint any coins of people who are alive, the only exception was John Paul II. The coin was to be mint on the 25th anniversary of awarding Walesa with Peace Nobel Prize. The President of Gdańsk Pawel Adamowicz made such request in the bank.
One of the Polish newspapers claims that there won't be any coin with Walesa, decided the chairman of NBP (Polish National Bank) Slawomir Skrzypek and he was backed up by the, recommending such initiatives, Historical Board in which - according to the newspaper - are "post-lustrative historitians", inter alia: Jan Żaryń, Andrzej Nowak and Wojciech Roszkowski.
The Polish National Bank said that it does not commemorate people who are alive, the only exception was John Paul II, said the director of social communication department of NBP Józef Ruszar and the decision in case of Walesa was made not only by the chairman but by the whole board.
