Police officers will answer for death of the students
Police officers mistook the rubber bullets with live round and the officer, who coordinated the action, knew about that and did nothing. It cost life of two people. One was seriously wounded. The case of putting down of the public disorders during the annual student's holiday (Juwenalia) in Lodz has finally foud its way way to the court. Three officers were accused.
Police officers from the traffic division are accused of deliberate and the officer of involuntary negligance. All of them are accused of "involuntary causing of threat for life and health of many people which resulted in death of two students". They are under threat of 8 years imprisonment.
According to the Prosecutor, the duty officer of the traffic section did not check the type of ammunition that he gave to the police officers and he handed over rubber bullets together with the live round. Although the officer who coordinated the action knew about that, he did nothing to stop the tradgedy.
