Man in a skirt
Marcin Boronowski, a lecturer at Wrocław University is wearing skirts and heeled shoes. "I am realizing my identity, I do not hurt anyone", he said. But he faces many acts of agression. That is why he asked the police for help.
He calls himself: "a chief anti-man of Poland". He became the anti-man a few years ago. At that time he was already a lecturer at the Foreign Language Teaching Centre of the University and at the Foreign Language Teacher Training College in Legnica.
Marcin Boronowski: "I've been introducing the untypical pieces of clothes for men gradually. At the beginning were shirts, slips and then shoes. My friends from the college got used to it, my students were surprised but only at the beginning. Since I explained why I've been dressing like that, the atmosphere is lovable.
Marcin is wearing heeled shoes, flip-flops and high boots in Winter. Hardly ever he wears trousers, he preferes skirts. He is dressing in this way because as he says: "I am realizing my identity. I am a free man and I cannot agree to the rude, primitive image of a man - macho. I am not against my virility. I feel mannishly. All I want is the freedom of interests and attitude and I reject the stereotypical patterns of behaviour and fashion. If I feel more comfortable in the clothes reserved for women, then I am wearing them", he explained.
Before ge gets to the car in the morning, almost every day he is accosted by the yobbo. They threaten to maim and mug him. The attacks have intensified recently, therefore he wrote a letter to the police asking for protection when leaving and entering his staircase. He explains his request in the following way: " The area where I live is for me dangerous because of frequent residence of the group of men's youths whose sub-culture is based on agression and hate towards strange and different. They are commonly known as yobbo or heavy.
