In Cracow will start the 18th Festival of Jewish Culture

With a morning sabbath prayer in synagouge Temple in Cracow will start the 18th Festival of Jewish Culture. We may find 208 events in its programm: concerts, studios, movie projections, spectacles and tours. The leitmotive of the nine days long festival is the 60th anniversary of creating Israel.

Israeli artists will perform for the audience. About the contemporary Israel will discuss, inter alia: the ambassador of this country David Peleg, the journalist Eli Barbur and the former ambassador of this country Szewach Weiss.

On sunday in the synagouge Tempel at "Peace over Israel" concert will perform three cantors - Benzion Miller, Azi Schwartz and Itzchak Meir Helfgof but during the concert will also appear a music band presenting Klezmer music "in punk version" - Oy Division from Israel. The addition to the artistic part is the educational programm: lectures, studios (of dance, chant, calligraphy, art and genealogy) and walks through the district of Kazimierz in Cracow, during which one may get to know historical monuments and history of the district.

The Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow is the most important in Poland and one of the greatest in the world events presenting Jewish culture and tradition. For the first time it took place 20 years ago but it is its 20th edition because it was cancelled twice (in 1989 and 1993). From the intimate event it developed into the great ceremony which attract more or less 20 thousand people. The organizer of the Festival is the Association Jewish Culture Festival.
