The Manhattan Transfer in Poland
Famous American vocal group will be performing on Friday in Szczecin, on the Pomeranian Princes Castle. It will be the only concert of The Manhattan Transfer in Poland. The American quartet has been on the music scene since 1972. Its name comes from a novel by John Dos Passosa, which action took place 20 years, that is in jazz golden era. The Manhattan Transfer, however, does not want to be attributed to only one type of music. "Our brand is a tuned four-voice harmony" - stressed Tim Hauser, the group founder, a former New York taxi driver. Except Hauser the team is formed by Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyn. Last change in the team took place 30 years ago. The group has released nearly 20 records, won 10 Grammy awards. In 1981, The Manhattan Transfer as first in history had received two Grammy awards at the same time: in pop and jazz category.
