Amnesty International demands explanations about CIA prisons in Poland
Amnesty International demand a detailed clarification of secret CIA prisons in Europe. The organization has just published the report about people who were detained and tortured by the U.S. secret services. Document was unearthed the day after New York Times wrote about tortures, that the members of Al Qaeda were subjected to in secret prisons in Poland. Amnesty International report describes 13 cases of people who were detained in various places in Europe. Authors of the document are demanding explanations for each of the cases. As Monika Deptuła from Amnesty International says, it should be the same in Poland. "The main reservations about Poland were the lack of proper explanation. There were reports from Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The authorities insufficiently explained what was happening in Poland. We even see the lack of willingness to clarify the matter" - explains Monika Deptuła. Amnesty International's report also shows that significantly more countries were involved in detention and torture of prisoners. "People were kidnapped in such countries as Germany, Sweden, Italy and United Kingdom. Poland and Romania are known as countries where these people were detained. But it was also the case in Afghanistan, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia" - Monika Deptuła added.
