Interest in insurance policies against the effects of the terrorist attacks increased in Poland. Insurance Companies are rained with questions about policy that can protect against attacks.

The event of 11th September 2001, and then the attacks in Madrid and London affected the increase in popularity of this type of insurance in Poland. But lately also other circumstances had influence. "This is due to the political situation and the Polish involvement in various projects" - says Ewa Beata Basiak, managing director of the department of cooperation with customers and Warta brokers. Experts from the insurance market enumerated, inter alia, the participation of our army in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan".

Marcin Dębicki, the director of the insurance office of economic entities in Ergo Hestia, says that there is a special interest in policies which one can see among shareholders of the companies from countries involved in the fight against terrorism. "Mainly the U.S., UK and Israel" - says Dębicki.

Companies are ready to spend millions on the policy protecting against attacks. "They are more expensive than those concerning natural risks and catastrophic" - says Dębicki. Generala representatives claim that the prices are riding high to 1-5 pro mill of the insurance limit. These in turn can be as high as several hundred million zlotys. This means that when the limit amounts to 500 million zloty, one have to pay even 2.5 million zloty.
