Museum of Communism will be built

The idea of the museum was born 10 years ago, however it was not realized and it seemed that the idea would collapse. Till yesterday. "The Warsaw Board decided to carry on the project", said Wojciech Borowik, the head of the team for museum building. At the moment only the location is known- Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.

"Maybe even this year will appear a concept of exposition and next year we will conduct a contest on the project of the new museum but I will not give you any other dates!", said the President of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. Unoffically it's being told that it may be ready in 2011.

We do not know either what character will have the exposition. It was discussed at the conference "Remembrance of Communism" by historians and opositionists yesterday. Doctor Antoni Dudek from IPN (Institute of National Remembrance) said that the museum must show the evil of Communism. In turn, Mirosław Chojecki from the Freedom of Speech Association wants it to boost our imagination and emotion. The following questions remain unsolved: if it is to show Communism only in Poland, how deeply it should delve into past, if it should present only the case of repression or also every-day life.
