Opinion poll about Lech Walesa
Almost a half of Poles does not believe in Walesa's assertion that he was not an agent of SB (Security Service, functioning as Secret Police). But even if he was, for the majority of Poles he will remain a symbol of subversion of Communism- as results from the opinion poll Millward Brown SMG/KRC.
Although Lech Walesa emphatically denied being an agent of SB under a secret name Bolek, Poles are strongly divided in his case. 43% of surveyed by Millward Brown SMG/KRC does not believe in former President's words. Only 34% is likely to believe. Still remain 23% of those who can not decide on whose side they are.
It's interesting that most of people who do not believe Walesa can be found among young under the age of 34. The older are less unequivocal in their evaluation. Everything because a commotion brought about by the IPN (Institute of National Remembrance) book. It caused that the elderly are undecided.
Even though a group of people who trust Walesa is rather in minority, most of the surveyed - 60% claims that even if it turned out that Walesa had been an agent, it wouldn't detract his merits in death of Communism.
