Germany wants to take Euro 2012 away from Poland

According to the daily press "Stern", UEFA is considering seriously if our western neighbour should not organize EURO 2012.
According to the German newspaper, which referes to the exalted officials of the European federation, Poland and Ukraine will not prepare such a big tournament on time. Why is it Germany that should organize the tournament? According to "Stern" it is the only serious candidate because Spain has not invested in stadions since it lose with Portugal in the race for Euro 2004.
However, English will organize in four years the Olimpic Games and Italy, allegedely, does not want to be on reserve against Poland and Ukraine. So according to the German newspaper they can fire up and thank for the unexpected gift.
