Historical staging "Monastery Besieged" in Lubiąż
Cistercian Eko-museum announced historical staging " Monastery Besieged" at After-Cistercian Palace and Monastery Complex in Lubiąż in Lower Silesia between Legnica and Wroclaw, which will be held on 21th June 2008. Knights Fraternity from all over Poland will be reconstructing history of the early XV century, in the costumes from the times of Battle of Grunwald, and using siege techniques of those days. On Saturday, they will be storming a monastery walls for few hours. The show will be created by infantry divisions, historical firearms, archers, and local peasantry taken by force. Local people will play the role of the few defenders and local Cistercians will support defenders with a prayer. Next to the monastery one can admire and visit the historical camp built by the invaders.
The beginning of the event is scheduled for 12:30 a.m. and it begins with a tour of the historic camp next to the monastery. Next points of the program are:
2.00 - 4.00 p.m. I part of the staging - the besiege of the monastery
4.30 – 5.30 p.m. touring of the camp at the foot of the historic monastery
6.00 - 8.00 p.m. II part of the staging - walls besieged and final storm
The organizers of this interesting events are: Lubiąż Association and the Association of Knights Fraternity of Legnicka Land.
