President of PZPN (Polish Football Association) Michal Listkiewicz decided to further motivate our football players before the match with Austria. He wanted to pay them 400 thousand euro for a good attitude in a game with Germany. Leo Beenhakker did not consent to this.

This suggestion was made during a meeting between Listkiewicza and Leo Beenhakkerem after the game with Germany. As a reward for winning each of the three group games Poles were to receive 400 thousand euros to share and 800 thousand more for getting out of the group. A total of 2 million.

Listkiewicz tried to change the established rules but Beenhakker said, however, that his players do not need extra motivation. "We have already finished financial negotiations. Previous decisions are for me and my players' satisfactory and definitive" - said selector
