Patron Gustaw Holoubek

Yesterday the Warsaw councillors outvoted a resolution christening the Dramatic Theatre with the name of Gustaw Holoubek. The decision was unanimous.

Magdalena Zawadzka, a widow after Gustaw Holoubek accepted the vote of city council feeling deeply moved. She reminded that during her husband's directorate the theatre was a scene appreciated in Poland and highly valued in Europe. She added that the decision is for her a beautiful name-day present.
About Gustaw Holoubek's contribution in the divelopment of the theatre said Marek Kraszewski, the director of Cultural Office in the city of Warsaw. The councillors also underlined the fact of creating by the artist of the civic theatre.

To the last case referred the present director of the Dramatic Theatre- Pawel Miskiewicz. Earlier, together with a group of the artists he postulated that the big scene in the theatre should be christened with the name of Gustaw Holoubek. Now, sharing his memories, he admitted that in the figure of Gustaw Holoubek the theatre gained a great spiritual patron. He also noticed that such productions like "On foot" (Pieszo) by Jarocki or " Jacques the Fatalist" ( Kubuś Fatalista i jego pan") by Zatorski once performed in the Dramatic drew his attention to the theatre.
Gustaw Holoubek was creating an artistic and civic theatre. In terms of his office the art was used to diagnose reality. The actors gave hope and uplift. This is the tradition we want to follow", said Paweł Miskiewicz.
