More than half of Poles do not distinguish original and counterfeit products

Sixty percent of Poles cannot or they are not sure whether they are able to distinguish fakes from the original product. More than half of our citizens admit that they are buying counterfeit products, but not everyone is aware of this. Most counterfeit products find its way to our country illegally.

Opinion poll results, conducted by the CBOS at the end of last year, include really interesting data. Sixty percent of Poles cannot (or are not sure whether they can) distinguish original products from fake ones. More than half of our citizens admit that they are buying counterfeit products, but not everyone is aware of this. Every fourth who was questioned in the opinion poll declares that he never bought fake product and also every fourth do not know whether they bought this product illegal. It turns out that the safest place to shop is the internet - only 5 percent buyers purchase counterfeit goods there.

In contrast, at a bazaar - as many as 43 percent shoppers purchase counterfeit goods.

Most common smuggled products are cigarettes, alcohol, but first of all counterfeit cosmetics, shoes and clothing, food, CDs and DVDs, electric tools. The counterfeits of well known companies, bought dirt-cheap mainly in Turkey, in Poland are sold much more expensive.

Among EU countries, Poland is on the seventh place in the quantity of counterfeit detainees. Comparing with the previous years the quantity of products such as food and alcohol, medicines, toys and electronic devices is increasing.
