European Commission about Polish health resorts
Nearly one-fifth of seaside resorts in Poland does not meet EU standards - announced European Commission.
EU report concerns last year’s season. Commission examines and evaluates all of the European health resorts.
According to the commission opinion, as many as 19 percent of such places in Poland, that is 17 seaside resorts, do not meet EU standards. This result is even worse than the year before (14 percent). Only 81 percent of bathing areas meet minimal requirements of the EU directive on the purity of water, in 2006 it was 85 percent.
In other regions of Poland is much better. Basic EU standards in 2007 fulfiled 204 of them (79 percent). And tightened one 109 (42 percent). In 2006, it was 65 and 34 percent respectively.
Report of the committee - yet needed - is often criticized because of numerous errors. In 2007 beaches in Dąbki and Eastern Ustka were included as inadmissible by EU standards, buit the same year they received in the international programme "Blue Flags" award, called The National Awards for "excellent quality of water and excellent organization of services." And yesterday in western Pomerania sanepid announced that all of the 39 subordinated to it marine bathing waters can be admitted to use.
