Sunken settlement found on Mazury

Several sunken boats, barrels, beams as well as traces of sunken settlement was found by fire fighters during sonar training on the Route of Great Masuria Lakes (Szlak Wielkich Jezior Mazurskich). Fire brigade in Gizycko after last year’s white squal got two sonars: towed and vertical, from the Governor of the Warmio-Mazurskie Province. - Both devices are world class equipment and meet our needs perfectly. Its maintanance is hovewer very complicated and therefore we are training intensively in this area - one of the firemen said. During one of the training fire fighters made sonar photos of the bottom of several Mazurian lakes, including Niegocina, Mamr, Kisajna and Tałt. During the analysis of the photos, it has become apparent that sonar measured out few sunken boats, barrels, beams, and even sunken settlement.
