On Tuesday, the representatives of city, state and of Cracow's three largest universities, have signed with Cisco - IT giant - an intentional letter concerning the development of a knowledge-based economy.
The purpose of this agreement is to develop the knowledge and entrepreneurship in high-technologies sector, to develop e-public services, network infrastructure, training for students, graduates and novice entrepreneurs, and to join research projects and promotion. It is first this kind agreement in Poland made by the U.S. group. It is also first clear signal of the willingness to cooperate of an academic sector (letter was signed by representatives from the Jagiellonian University, Cracow University and the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy) from Cracow and Malopolska. Cisco would, for example, support the development of innovative new companies through training, giving advice and financing projects on the basis of venture capital. So far, the group bought shares in about 130 holding promise projects.
