Polish factory will produce Mercedes?
Automotive concern Daimler is looking for a place to build new Mercedes factory. Most serious candidates are Poland and Romania. In the race for victor’s palm Poland would turn out to be better. The factory is to arise in the Ujazd village, where it is due to deal with the production of new generation Class A and B Mercedes cars. The value of the investment amounts to 800 million Euro. In Mercedes plants more than 3 thousand Poles will find employment. First "Polish" Mercedes will exit the assembly line after 2010. Germany would have to choose between an economic zone in the Polish municipality Ujazd (area near the A4 motorway) and the Romanian Cluj (industrial region in North-Western part of the country). Reportedly one of the German negotiators of Daimlera was to disclosed that the management group has already decided to choose Poland. "I am not yet familiar with Daimlera’s decision. I can only say that we are doing our best to convince this kind of investors to invest their capital in Poland - said Rafal Baniak, Undersecretary of Economic Affairs, who is responsible for foreign investment.
