On June, 2th, Security Phone for foreign tourists is getting of the ground

On May, 26th, Katarzyna Sobierajska, Undersecretary of Sports and Tourism, Andrew Matejuk, Chief Commissioner of Police and Raphael Szmitke, the President of the Polish Tourism Organization, signed an agreement concerning phone safety for foreign tourists. From June 7th to September 30th informers will provide information daily from 10.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. in English, German and Russian. Polish Tourist Organization, promoting tourism, puts great emphasis on the safety of foreign tourists. Public opinion poll carried out each year by the Institute of Tourism shows that in addition to the costs of the stay, the standard of services and tourist attractions, state of security is a crucial factor while choosing the place to rest. That is why Polish Tourist Organization, together with the Police Headquarters and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism start, now for the seventh time, "Security Phone " to improve tourists’ safety. Foreigners while calling these telephone numbers will be able to get help in an emergency and exceptional situations. In addition to security issues tourists will be able to receive information on various topics in several languages. This is essentially a matter which arises when tourists have language problems and cannot complete some cases, or they have some small-scale health problems and need assistance or, most often, when they need tourist information. Tourist can count on assistance, in any difficulty which takes place in a hotel, in a cab, on a road, in the case of a car accident. Security Phone is not going to replace the relevant departments (police, fire brigade, ambulance). People, who will be answering the phone cooperate with the Police.
