Teachers go on strike
Most of the schools and kindergartens are closed today. The teachers want to gain a 50% pay-rise. More than a half of Poles support the protest.
Today on the strike organized by ZNP (Polish Teachers' Union) is going 70% of schools and kindergartens. Most of all in the voivodships such as: świętokrzyskie, podkarpackie, łódzkie, kujawsko-pomorskie, mazowieckie, wielkopolskie and śląskie, fewer from- opolskie and pomorskie.
The teachers demand the 50% pay-rise, previous pensions and they want to keep the Teachers' Card which regulates how many hours the teacher has to work within the 40 hours working week.
The schools and kindergartens will be closed. The teachers joted down in the students' books an information for the parents about the protest and they hung an announcement on the doors of the schools.
The society is divided in terms of the protest. It results from the opinion polls that 51% supports the protest and 44% is against.
