SLD establishes contact with German SPD
About next year's election to the European Parliament, Lisbon Treaty and situation of Polish left-wing parties discussed politicians from SLD (Democatic Left Alliance) with representatives of SPD (Social Democatic Party of Germany) who visited Poland.
In "Our Social Europe of the XXI century" conference took part inter alia: President of SPD, Prime Minister of the Palatinate of the Rheim Kurt Beck, President of European Social Parties group in European Parliament Martin Schultz and Prime Minister of Brandenburg Matthias Platzneck.
The President od SLD Wojciech Olejniczak insured that the left-wing parties in Poland really care, so that Polish-German relationship "could shape up well"."In order to realise together as many good projects as possible within EU"- he added. From how in the future will function Europe depends if in Europe will develop left and social programms - claims the President of SLD.
Martin Schultz said that cooperation between SPD and SLD is an important element of success of social european parties. As he said, Europe " needs a strong social-democratic representation in European Parliament. Our parliamentary group in EP needs many left-wing members from Poland" -he added.
