The Dutch apologize the Poles
“It's an obvious misunderstanding, the extermination camps were Nazi.” - says the editor of the Dutch daily “Algemeen Daglbad”, where showed up a lie, saying that the Jews were deported to “the Polish extermination camps”. And he promises that as soon as the editorial staff will receive a letter from the Polish ambassador, a correction will appear in the newspaper.
“I understand that Poles could feel offended by this statement. People could have thought that the camps were Polish. But this is of course a misunderstanding because they were Nazi camps on the territory of Poland.” - explains the editor of the daily “Algemeen Daglbad”. And adds straight away that soon a correction will appear in the newspaper.
The whole article in the Dutch newspaper was dedicated to the late dead Irena Sendler – a hero, who saved the lives of 2.5 thousand Jewish children during the German occupation.
The foreign newspapers, which use the expressions “Polish camps” explain that it's only a description of the geographical position of these Hitlerite death factories. However, the Polish authorities always react on such expressions. Usually editorial staffs apologize then. Even the official name of the Auschwitz camp has been changed to resolve doubts about who constructed it and executed the extermination of hundred thousands of people.
