54 people died in traffic accidents during May weekend

54 people died, 877 was injured in 631 accidents – this is an effect of long May weekend. Police has also arrested 2513 drivers under the influence of alcohol.
As Mariusz Sokołowski, the spokesman of police commanding officer said, these data were very similar to the last year’s data. “Yet, these periods are really hard to compare. Last year’s May weekend lasted 10 days” – he stressed. He also draw attention to the fact that during last weekend a lot of drunken drivers – in spite of police appeal – was arrested.
