Polish government wants to create a partnership with western neighbours of European Union in whose works could be also involved Russia. Today the initial proposal will be presented to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of 27 countries by Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. In this way Poland wants to restore balance in relationship with Union's neighbours. Warsaw and other capital cities are afraid that EU in favor of Mediterranean See, which during last summit of UE on March carried Nicolas Sarkozy's point, may cause that to much attention and measures will be directed to southern neighbours.
On March Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that instead of agreement on Mediterranean project , Poland will propose an alternative concerning East .The details will be given during the summit on June. Works over the idea are being carried on. Warsaw discusses with inter alia Paris which in few months will take the lead over EU, Berlin, Stockholm and countries of Central Europe.
Novelty in relation to present neighbouring policy of EU will be drawing of Russia if it agreed to take part in any project. So far the policy of neighbourhood in which are involved countries from Ukraine to Marocco did not allow to finalise from european sources the better border protection between foreign countries, for example: Ukraine and Russia. And protection of these borders is Union's interest because through them most of illegal immigrants get into EU. This argument may convince our partners in EU. Other projects open to partners outside EU may concern environmental protection and youth's cooperation.
