Polish astronomers contributed in the discovery of two black holes

Astronomers discovered two supermassive black holes rotating around each other. In a research publiched in newest weekly „Nature” Polish scientists, from Jagellonian University and Pedagogical Academy in Cracow, were participating.
The system of two black holes named OJ287 is situated more than 3 billion light-years from Earth. One of the discovered black holes weigh 18 billion times more than our Sun and it is the most massive known celestial body. The second one is much smaller – it weigh 100 million times more than a Sun.
Professor Stanislaw Zoła and co-workers from University in Cracow took part in the formation of special model, by means of which one can predict when the radiation in the form of flash ensue.
