New breast milk bank will be created in Poland

Even this year in one of maternity clinics in Warsaw will be created a new breast milk bank. It will be the first and, so far, the only such a bank in Poland, however its equivalents are to be built near every hospital in the country. Milk will be destined first of all for preterm babies whose life can be saved with help of natural women's nourishment.
Next to the maternity clinic will be located a bank to which breast-feeding mothers will give excess milk to other women, to those, who suffer from lack in nourishment. The bank is created with a view of preterm babies. For them a natural nourishment is a chance for proper development or even to survive in first weeks of life, if they cannot be given any other nourishment.
In Poland every year 32 thousand of preterm babies are born and their mothers usually have problems with food. The bank willl be a salvation for many of the children. The nourishment is to be heated up to the temperature of 62.5 C. "Such a technology kills all viruses and at the same time allows to keep the invaluable qualities of nourishment", says one of the originators of idea, chairman of Association in Aid of  Breast Milk Bank, Aleksandra Wesołowska.
