Lech Kaczyński and Szimon Peres have commemorated victims of Treblinka Camp
On Monday, Presidents of Poland and Israel took part in a ceremony which commemorated the martyrdom of Jews. It took place in Treblinka under the stone monument, where in the extermination camp Treblinka II majority of Jews from the Warsaw ghetto were killed.
Polish President reminded that 800-900 thousand Jews had died in Treblinka , in majority Polish citizens but also citizens of other countries. "What can we say faced with such a crime? All we can say is- never, ever again. Never can someone’s nationally, religion or views be a reason for death or persecution. This is my only message from this place," stressed Polish President.
Szimon Peres delivered his speech in Hebrew. "I came here to say kadish for the dead, to pray for hope. The uprising in Warsaw ghetto, which had its beginning on 19th of April 1943, was a heroic attempt to stop the ultimate Ghetto liquidation started by Germans a few moths earlier."
