Polish soldiers fly to Chad
The first group of Polish soldiers will fly to Chad at the end of the week. More or less a group of 60 people will take care of preparation of terrain on which Polish base will be built. The soldiers are to clean, level and harden 7 hectares of ground. Their task will be also to fortify the terrain in borders of the future base. It is likely that, once building's materials will be delivered and more soldiers will be sent, the army will start main building works of the base. Within the frames of Polish forces in Chad mission about 400 soldiers and army's workers will take part. Our contingent will be the second largest after the French one. Polish contingent will be equipped in Mi-17 helicopters ( 3, one of them will be treated as reserve) and between ten and twenty Rosomak transporters, also in medical version. The soldiers will use several vehicles of HMMWV type and between ten and twenty Land Rovers. The equipment will be delivered by ships through seaport in Camerun and thence it will be transported by air and land to its point of destination.
