Smuggling on the border

Since border examinations between Poland and Lithuania was canceled, smuggler changed their faces, they even don’t hide goods without excise, and when they are discovered by boarder guard, they just run away.
Smugglers has more and more fast cars. After boarders opening there is no smuggling of cigarettes in secret locks or tires. Now smugglers count that they will be safe against guard by their fastness and that way they will be able to transport their goods from Riga by all United Europe.
Smugglers, when they see the guard, just run away and the chase starts. It is more common since Poland came into Schengen. Although there is no particular control on the board, it does not mean , there is no control at all, and that law regulations about goods transportation are no longer valid. In Schengen zone, groups of guards may introduce control in every place inside the country. But smugglers more often takes the risk.
- Since joining Poland to Schengen zone our divisions has started chase 29 times. Earlier there were no such situations. During those almost 4 months we have discovered smuggling in value of over 1,8 millions of PLN- admits Anna Wójcik, spokeswomen of board guard on Podlasie, she is responsible for supervision the board with Lithuania.
